What is the meaning behind the name, Design Beyond The Label?
To us, it means looking beyond the labels that often define design—luxury, trends, brands, titles, and expectations. We believe the most meaningful spaces aren't created to fit a category. They're created to reflect the people who experience them. Every project is an opportunity to move beyond what's expected and design something that feels deeply personal, timeless, and entirely your own.
Because labels don't tell stories.
They don't capture the laughter around a dining table, the first day in a new office, or the celebration shared with the people you love.
Great design isn't about following a style or earning a title. It's about creating spaces that feel like they were always meant for you.
That's what it means to design beyond the label.

Riley Redman and Julia Parkhill have known each other since their tennis-playing days growing up in Oklahoma. After college, life brought them back together, and it didn’t take long to realize they had more in common than a shared history, they both had a passion for design and a vision for what they could create together.

RILEY REDMAN
Riley has always had a natural love for design and a tendency to turn that passion into something tangible. She’s spent years designing spaces for friends, family, and herself, and has often been told she should turn her love for design into a business of its own. With a degree in Business and Marketing, and experience in design, marketing, and creative direction, she brings both a creative eye and a big-picture perspective to every project. She loves pulling together the pieces that make a space feel thoughtful, cohesive, and uniquely its own. At Beyond The Label, Riley brings the creative vision, the business mindset, and an enthusiasm for turning ideas into something real.
JULIA PARKHILL
Our detail girl, design thinker, and the one who can turn a sketch into an actual plan. With a degree in Interior Design, Julia loves the hands-on side of creating — layouts, materials, measurements, sketches, and all the little details that make a space come together. She has a thoughtful, practical approach to design, but never loses sight of the creative side of a project. She’s equally creative and crafty, with an eye for how individual elements can work together to create a cohesive, intentional space. Julia loves seeing an idea evolve from the initial concept into reality, and she thrives when making it all come together. At Beyond The Label, she brings her technical expertise, creativity, and thoughtful approach to every project.
THE TWO OF US
We’re different in all the right ways. We each bring our own strengths, creative instincts, and perspectives to the table, and that’s what makes working together so natural. We challenge each other, build on each other’s ideas, and bring different pieces of the design process together to create a more thoughtful end result. Riley brings the big-picture vision and creative direction, while Julia brings technical expertise and a detail-driven approach, and together, we turn ideas into spaces and experiences that feel considered from every angle.
What we love most about design is that no two projects, or people, are ever the same. We genuinely enjoy getting to know our clients, hearing their stories, understanding what matters to them, and finding ways to bring their personalities into the spaces and experiences we create. For us, the relationships we build along the way are just as meaningful as the finished product.
Beyond The Label is a reflection of both of us: our shared love of design, our drive to create something of our own, and our belief that the best work happens when creativity and intention come together.
And outside of Beyond The Label, you can usually find us doing more of the same, wandering through home stores, sourcing unique finds at antique shops, creating one to many Pinterest boards, dreaming up our next project, or finding any excuse to get creative. Design has always been something we naturally gravitate toward, long before it became a business.
At some point, we realized that the things we were already doing simply because we loved them were the things we wanted to build our careers around. Beyond The Label was born from that passion — a chance to turn something we genuinely love into something of our own. And if we’re lucky, we’ll never feel like we’re working a day in our lives.
